"A liar, a thief, and utterly without conscience. But he'll keep to any deal you strike with him."

I am in my senior year of college right now and have had about a million assignments due in the last week and yet I still finished this book in about five days totally procrastinating on everything I was supposed to be doing. Oops! Though I have to say it was well worth it. Kaz Brekker’s crew is amazing! Every one of them has a different personality that of course clashes with the others in varying degrees, but Bardugo somehow made them all fight so well together. I loved the way she was able to give us the feel of the 1920’s still including the magical elements of the Grisha. She is such a talented author.
This Duology (the following book Crooked Kingdom, which I have not finished yet but it is already so good! I’ll write a review for that once I finish it.) is about six criminals who are tasked with completing an elaborate heist that seems to have no prayer of working out. Nothing is ever free in the city of Ketterdam so bribery is always needed and fuels everyone of these delinquents’ greed in one way or another, though the greed isn’t always what you would think it would be. Bardugo adds depth to these six crows and you can’t help but continue to read to unlock their stories. I truly enjoyed reading about these six characters and learning about their pasts that brought them into the world of the Dregs. It was amazing to see just how each of their past will connect to their future. This book kept me engaged and I can’t wait to finish the rest of the series. Please do yourself a favor and follow the journey of Brekker’s crew, it's well worth it.
